Our Top Stargazing Spots!

Picture

Beverley Airfield

On the outskirts of town off Lukin street is the airfield. You will find some great open space to set up a telescope or tripod for some fabulous astrophotography.

Yenyening Lakes

The lakes are a hotspot for photographers wanting to get spectacular astrophotography shots with no light pollution. The backdrop of the lakes and the surrounding farmland make for a tranquil setting. Allow 35 minutes’ drive from Beverley townsite.

Beverley Townsite

Head to the town oval, golf course or near the old Grain bins to find a spot where there is little lighting.

Ballardong Aboriginal Astronomy Planisphere

The Ballardong Aboriginal Astronomy Project run by Astrotourism WA worked with the local Ballardong Elders and the children at the Beverley District High School to produce our very own Planisphere. The project was made possible by Regional Development Australia along with the Shire of Beverley.

Pictured, you can see many students and their families were able to immerse themselves sitting around a campfire and listening to stories under the chilly night sky at Avondale.

You can now purchase your own Ballardong Planisphere at the Beverley Visitor Centre.
