Long ago there was a Race. The Beverley, established in 1897. It waxed and waned and made local heroes celebrated in the newspapers, remembered by families across Australia. It had many race formats: Beverley to Perth, and Perth to Beverley, shorter rides for the juniors, different clubs running including the WA Wheelmen. 1999 was its last year.
Rob Frith the President of the WA Historical Cycle Club mentioned to Event Director of the “Giro d’Perth” Toby Hodgson that the race could be run again.
After an exhaustive day of test riding and Shire meetings, the think tank of Toby, Rob and Graphic Designer Phil McVey came up with “ The Beverley Heroic”- the new spring classic challenge.
The first bike weekend was 2014, now we have the Race, Cyclocross, 50 and 100 Mile rides plus a town ride. We have had movie nights and rain, sunshine and wind.
Regrettably, the 2020 Beverley Heroic was the last. Please follow the link below for more details.
The annual triathlon is held in March and features a long and short course, plus fun and family friendly team events. The next triathlon will be hosted in 2022.
