Beverley Harvest Festival
Sunday 25 November 2012
This major community event is held in November each year and gives visitors an opportunity to see harvesting in action,
experience rural activities and feel part of the Beverley agricultural
community.
It is a chance to marvel at the magnitude of the wheat harvest
in Western Australia and enjoy some country hospitality.
The Beverley Harvest Festival in 2011 featured demonstrations of the history of harvesting, with Clydesdale horses & vintage
equipment; stationary engines, vintage vehicles; wood chopping;
Highland cattle; blacksmith & farrier & working sheepdogs.

The horses had arrived at Avondale Discovery Farm, Beverley in time for the Beverley
Clydesdale and Vintage Day, Sunday 24 June. The inspiring Mounted Avon Valley 10th Light Horse
Memorial Troop, the delighted Teen Ramage show ponies, the Smart Harness Diving Society ponies,
the hobby horses, and the truly awesome Clydesdale horses in action.
What a show they provided for our 1500 visitors.
Thank you to all the contributors to the event. Many volunteer hours had gone into getting the venue
tidied up, the tractors, trucks and machinery ready for the demonstrations, and the organising and
promotion of the event. Corrective Services Section 95 crew and the Shire of Beverley workers took
care of many of the bigger tasks.
The local schools, businesses, artists, community groups and individuals who embraced the
Hobby Horse Challenge and helped stimulate interest in the event, and provided some
entertainment on the day, Thank You.
Brian Faithful did a wonderful job of auctioning the
artist-decorated Hobby Horses.
Six amazing pieces of artwork went under the hammer, and
raised an average price of $110.
These funds are to be used to offset the cost of purchasing the materials for the activity.
Thank you to Daryl Storer and Harold Anderson for preparing 50 blank horses.

We congratulate the following winners
Northam Toyworld Hobby Horse-People's Choice
-Ned Kelly's Horse, Year 5/6 Beverley District High School
Activity Passport
-R & D de Graff Joondalup
Visitor Feedback draw
-Willeke de Bruyn, Cloverdale
The Great Southern Working Sheepdog Association who has their own dedicated following, but their
amazing displays of understanding between dog and handler added to the entertainment, and
education of adults and children attending.
A very special thank you to Mia Davies MLA, who took time out of her busy schedule to show her
support by attending, Dee Ridgway Beverley Shire President, Steve Pollard, Northam Shire President,
Wendy Williams Chairperson Avon Tourism, and a sprinkling of Beverley Shire Councillors. Your
presence adds value to our event.

Held in August every second year, the Beverley Truck Muster Weekend is a great opportunity to see and admire a variety of trucks and talk to their proud owners.
Stationary engines chug away during the day and teams of Clydesdale horses are harnessed to show visitors some original "horsepower".
Held over the weekend, this two-day event is a relaxed and fun way to see some great trucks and enjoy a day in the country.
Check out some photos from the 2011 Beverley Truck Muster.
